Laban Presbyterian Higher Secondary School

About The School :

The Laban Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, is a Co-Education institution. It is one of the premier educational institutions of the State of Meghalaya and has been imparting Primary and Secondary Education for a period of about 114 years.

The Laban Presbyterian Higher Secondary School is said to have started between 1897 and 1890. In 1897 the school had to be reconstructed due to massive earthquake. The Middle English School started in the year 1950 under the leadership of Sir. Lonelton as the Head. In 1950 the Lower Primary School introduced the Class IV Section. Classes VII and VIII was opened and received recognition in the year 1965.

After the Middle English School was opened, on the 1st May, 1954 the Managing Committee divided the School in two Sections, that is, the Lower Primary and the Middle English Section.

On 19th January, 1966 it was decided by the Managing Committee to open Class X from the year 1966 itself. Until the year 1981 the Middle English School and the High School was amalgamated to ‘ Laban Khasi High School. The name of the School changed from ‘Laban Khasi High School’ to Laban Presbyterian High School’ on the 30th July, 1986. Approval was granted by the Director of Public Instructions on th 19th August, 1993 to change the name to Laban Presbyterian Secondary School.

The Church decided to open in Class XI & XII otherwise known as the Higher Secondary School as a part of the celebration of 100 years of the Church. The Inspector of Schools, East Khasi Hills, Shillong sent Recommendations to the Government, D.P.I. Meghalaya, date 1st May, 2001. Approval and Recognition was received from the Secretary, Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE) on the 1st August, 2003 for the introduction of Class XI & XII As for the name of the School, it was changed to ‘LABAN PRESBYTERIAN HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL’.

  3. Maintain integrity and performance through ethical practices in achieving academic goals.

Affiliation :

The school is an affiliated institution to the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) for both Secondary and Higher Secondary curriculum and examinations.
